Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation

The mission of the Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation is to make possible the use of tax-deductible charitable gift dollars for the development of scholarship, leadership and citizenship in chapters of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.  It is a public educational foundation established in 1966 and qualified under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

A volunteer board of 18 Trustees governs the Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation. The Trustees meet semi-annually in January and August. The Trustees pay for their own travel and meeting expense, thereby preserving all donations for the support of programs. See Foundation Past Presidents.

Administratively, the Foundation shares the Fraternity staff operating from the Marvin Millsap National Headquarters Building at our founding site in Warrensburg, Missouri. The Millsap building was fully funded by charitable donations to the Foundation. No collegiate member dues or fees were used to establish the headquarters facility.

Donors are recognized in three ways.

  • Chain of Honor Annual Fund donors are recognized with Annual Donor Recognition Levels based on annual giving.
  • The Wilson C. Morris Fellowship recognizes cumulative lifetime giving levels. Individuals who donate $1,000 over no more than four years qualify to become Wilson C. Morris Fellows. From that point forward all donations count toward the cumulative giving recognitions.
  • The W. T. Hembree Guild recognizes donors who arrange for an estate gift to the Foundation. These gifts are most frequently made with a provision in the donor’s will. Donors may also arrange for gifts through life insurance and various trust arrangements, including charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts. The Foundation staff can assist with these arrangements.
